Our Top 5 Father's Day Lunch Spots: The Best Eats in Our Hood

June 07, 2018

We’re all looking for ways to make Dad’s day extra special this year. Besides socks (duh), there’s no better way to your old man’s heart than through his stomach. We’ve compiled a list of our favorite local spots in Atlanta, sure to please the whole fam.

1. Fox Bros. BBQ
Neighborhood: Candler Park

BBQ and Dad go together like peanut butter and jelly and Fox Bros. is a sure fire win for any Father’s Day lunch. I know chicken isn’t always top of mind when you are at a BBQ joint, but the smoked wings at Fox Bros. should not be missed! Round your meal out with a basket of tots and a couple cold beers, Dad will thank you for many meals to come.

2. Krog Street Market
Neighborhood: Inman Pa

Indecisive Dad? When both of you “don’t care” and could eat “whatever”, Krog Street Market steps in to make things a little easier. With over 15 options under one roof, Krog is sure to satisfy any craving. We suggest heading to Yalla!, a Sock Fancy favorite, dishing out middle eastern classics like shawarma, falafel and kebabs.

3. Homegrown
Neighborhood: Reynoldstown

Does your Dad love home cooking? This is the place for him. Homegrown offers some of your favorite southern fare, from fried chicken to pork chops and gravy. Or you can really push the belt notches and go for the famous Grant’s Stack: a pimento cheese, bacon and fried green tomato sandwich served on grilled Texas toast. After a meal like this, take it to the house because daddy-o will definitely need a nap.

4. Victory Sandwich Bar
Neighborhood: Decatur

Looking for a quick bite and a cool vibe? Victory checks all the boxes. Offering small sandwiches, snacks, and a killer Jack and Coke slushie, this is the perfect spot to grab a table on the patio and enjoy eclectic downtown Decatur. Better yet, head inside and challenge Dad to an intense game of ping pong, loser buys lunch.

5. Carroll Street Cafe
Neighborhood: Cabbagetown

Does Dad love great food and art? Carroll Street Cafe has both! Sit down and enjoy a slow meal catching up with pops while admiring the work of local artists on every wall. Offering a variety of options, from waffles to omelettes at brunch to filet mignon and salmon entrees for dinner, Carroll Street is a sure fire winner for any appetite.
